Each year, we do practical archaeological work but the balance of what we do varies. Sometimes this is excavation but not always. After digging, there is always a lot of practical work to do processing the finds.
Two publications have already been produced on the earlier Noak Hill excavations. The latest digs were done in 2022, 2019, 2016 and 2005-11 and the recording and analysis of finds from these excavations have been completed. The Harris Matrix for the site should be completed in 2026 – 27.
In Canewdon, finds processing on all 35 trenches has been completed and the programme of writing up is continuing during 2026.
Practical work is mainly done in summer and we end this with a barbecue. Through the year we have meetings, an annual meal and a Christmas party.
